Atypical Perfection

Do you ever find yourself wanting something so bad and you tell yourself having it would make you happier, it will make your life better but when you manage to reach it, you realize it’s not what you expected? We tend to seek things we tell ourselves we want and need.  We want things to go a certain way, from having the best looks and the perfect smile, to the latest and greatest gadgets and toys, to the perfect house and job, and even conforming to social media pressures.  We tell ourselves once we reach those goals, then we will reach our satisfactory level of happiness and we will achieve perfection.   But what happens when we achieve those goals? How long does that happiness last before a new gadget or toy is released? How long does that perfection last before we find new imperfections with our appearance and social status?

Before you start aiming for the impossible, realize that everyone sees the world differently.  Everyone has a different idea and opinion of what makes something good, what makes something beautiful, and what makes something acceptable and compliant with social standards and pressures.  With social media, magazines, and commercials, it seems to be more and more challenging to feel beautiful, to have the right car or house, or to have the right lifestyle.  Society has been shifting more towards what others have and don’t have instead of accepting each other, welcoming everyone’s differences and working together.  It’s only then that we will reach perfection.

Perfection doesn’t come from what we have but the difference we make in this world, it comes from embracing our uniqueness instead of duplicating each other.
