The word believe is so uplifting, just to be able to say you and I believe in something. Others don’t have to believe the same thing we do but there’s an attraction to that word and to the person when they declare they believe in something. However, the opposite is true to those who have to see something in order to believe it…doubting Thomas.
Most of us are familiar with the story of doubting Thomas. After Jesus’ resurrection, he appeared to many of his disciples but Thomas wasn’t with them when it happened. So when the disciples told him “We have seen the Lord!” His response to them “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” A week later, the disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.” Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.” John 20:24-29

We can all learn a valuable lesson from Thomas. You don’t have to be a man or woman of faith to use Thomas as an example. Thomas walked with Jesus and the rest of the disciples and yet he didn’t believe their testimony as well as how many times Jesus had told them all about his suffering and death. Thomas’ doubts disabled his ability to believe. Most of us have to see things before we believe and though it sounds realistic and logical, it’s unappealing at times. Our doubts, when we allow them to, will stop us from believing. People who believe before seeing tend to see so much more than those who don’t. So much is within our eye sight but we don’t see it because of our lack of belief. We can change that mentality and approach each day with belief and looking for the positive. You and I will see more positive because we’re looking for it and believing that we will see it.
A bit of doubting Thomas in everyone of us I think . I also feel that Thomas has been unfairly judged and almost labeled – well he has actually . It was good he doubted or we wouldnt have the lesson … On the account given he needed proof and got it …I suspect that transformed him to never ever doubt again while those who have the virtue of the faith without proof are often tested … For Thomas, there would never be a test again but his actions became a lesson for all . Just another illustration of what the EGO judges and precieves to be one thing becomes something completely different when seen from the Divine – A great lesson to teach the value of faith .Thank you Doubting Thomas funny that now the person who probably never ever doubted after that day holds the Title for ever ❤Thank you Ramina
