Are you surrounded by faucets or drains?
Faucets are individuals that pour into your life, build you up and encourage you. They are energetic, positive, and motivating. Drains, on the other hand, they tend to drain you every time you engage with them. Their world is always falling apart, they need your undivided attention, and no matter how much advice you give them, the end result is the same.
Although we have all played both roles at some point, we tend to lean towards one more than the other.
Beware of the role people in your inner circle play in your life, and more importantly, beware of the role you play and the impact you have on others. Being a faucet can be just as rewarding as it is exhausting emotionally and mentally. So find ways to refill. Surround yourself with people that will pour into you and encourage you just as much as you encourage others. Find activities that will recharge and energize you. And most importantly, learn to say no in a healthy manner.
A drain can be turned into a faucet with the right mindset and attitude. It’s a decision they have to make.
