“Will you be my friend?” Asked God
“Why would you want me to be your friend?” Answered Tommy
“Because I don’t have that many friends.” Answered God. “See, everyone comes to me when they need something and then they leave until they need me again.”
Throughout the bible we learn about God’s desire to have a personal relationship with us. A FRIENDSHIP! I have always pictured God as my friend. Someone who is always there for me, and I can count on him every time I need something, but I have never thought of myself as God’s friend until recently. I am a woman of faith, and as Valentine’s Day approaches, not only do I want to celebrate my husband and my children, but I also want to celebrate the greatest love of all…God’s love.
I’ve had my fair share of friendships, some successful that brought joy to my life, while others not so much, leading to tears, heartbreak, and sometimes betrayal. As I examine my relationship with God, I realize that his friendship is the true everlasting one because he loves me unconditionally, even when I don’t deserve it, he accepts me for who I am, he doesn’t judge me, he’s loyal and trustworthy, and he comforts me when I cry. This is a fairytale friendship that I want to be a part of, don’t you?
I urge you to examine your relationship with God! Do you call yourself his friend? If you answered no, then what’s stopping you from the greatest friendship that’s yet to come?

Thank you for this beautiful blog Ramina! I love that we are God’s friend, and that He so longs to have that intimacy with us even more than we long for it. Beautiful words.
You nailed this one perfectly. My two girls read it out loud for us all to listen and digest. This was incredible.
