Have you heard the story of an elderly couple who wanted some ice cream one evening but had none. So the husband decided to go to the store and get some. “Make sure it’s vanilla, not chocolate, and write it down, or you’ll forget,” she told him.
“I won’t forget,” he protested.
As he walked out the door, “don’t forget the chocolate sauce, not strawberry topping, but chocolate,” she exclaimed.
“No problem – I won’t forget!”
As he got into his car, she opened the window and called out, “and get some nuts too.”
“Yes, dear!”
He had the best intentions; however, he couldn’t remember what he was supposed to get when he arrived at the store. He walked up and down the aisles, aimlessly looking and trying to remember. When he came home, all he had in his hand was a carton of eggs.
She said, “What? A dozen of eggs? I knew you’d forget. You forgot the bacon!”
We all need lists! I can’t imagine life without my lists. They organize my overflowing chaotic plate. They help us with our day-to-day life and keep our goals and dreams in motion.
Lists open the door to possibilities because they keep us in check and on task. They can help us tap into energetic thinking as we list our thoughts and goals.
What does your list look like?
