Being number one is often the goal; people enjoy winning, its human nature. But what happens when we’re not number one? What happens when we come short of our goal?
It seems in life, we are playing a game every day. Some days we play long and extensive, thought-provoking and strategizing games, while on other days, we participate in simple, tedious and repetitive ones. Either way, we’re in it to win and succeed. To be number one! Yet when being number is just not in the cards for us, we need to remember that there are as many ways to win a game as there are games to play. Whether it’s getting the most points and feeling successful or being the first to cross the finish line, enjoying the adrenaline; or even prevailing by capturing the king. Whatever game you are playing, make sure the reward you are seeking is the one you really want.
Often times we spend so much time and focus on the game we are playing that we forget the purpose and the desire, telling ourselves we need to push through no matter the cost. When in reality, stepping away to assess the game itself and the strategy is the best and healthiest thing we can do for ourselves.
