If you were diagnosed with a terminal illness and the doctor told you the only way to live was to take a certain pill would you take it? This pill is the only thing keeping you alive and away from planning your funeral-wouldn’t you set a reminder and make sure you did everything possible to remember? Why? Because it is vital to your survival.
I take that pill…it’s called prayer! Living in a broken world that is struggling with so much pain and so much uncertainty, I pray.
Prayer keeps me grounded, connected, grateful, and even joyful.
Two months ago, we faced a financial surprise, and despite the stressful situation it created, I found myself overjoyed and singing. At that moment, I got on my knees, prayed, and praised God for my joy in the midst of my circumstances. Ten minutes later, there was a check in the mail.
Prayer keeps me trusting.
You don’t have to be a spiritual person to pray. Being a woman of faith, prayer is an essential part of my faith. I can’t go a day without talking to my heavenly Father. Whenever my family and I are in the car, we pray first, even before we buckle our seat belts.
Prayer can break down visible and invisible walls, it can create new connections we never thought possible, and it can open doors beyond our wildest imagination.
My prayers keep me going every day; it is the habit of my heart. What does your personal prayer life do for you?
