Every summer in July and August, Salmons travel back to the rivers, often finding the exact location they were born to spawn. Salmons have something called magnetoreception and can detect magnetic fields that help them determine the right way to go. Some might say they have a built-in GPS. The salmon run is incredible as they make their way back to where it all started. They endure endless obstacles and challenges as they swim against the river current, around 2,500 miles. They leap over waterfalls, dams, and rapids. Along the way, bears and eagles wait patiently for the thousands of salmons that will soon cross paths.
Salmons are an example of resiliency and perseverance. Their run is a reminder that out of adversity comes strength.
When it feels like you’re swimming upstream and against the currents, it’s essential to focus on your purpose. When everything else in life says it’s dangerous and you’re not going to make it. Remember, with each stroke you are getting stronger and more resilient. Your persistence and perseverance are what will give you the breakthrough you need.
