Travel Light

It’s hard to believe that a whole year has passed. It was only yesterday that we said goodbye to one of the worst years, 2020, and here we are, on the tail end of 2021. Time is flying by, which only confirms, life is short.

As we plan for 2022, we have so much to consider, the latest diet we want to try, the newest exercise routine, the swimsuit we want to fit into by springtime, career advances, and changes. The list goes on and on. A new year presents so many opportunities in so many ways, and I love hearing of the different plans people have for the upcoming year. However, there is one resolution that I never hear about, and that is letting go.

Letting go of the pain and hurt others have caused. Letting go of the anger that’s been festering inside. Letting go of the emotional baggage you’ve been carrying and overcoming the toxic effects of it. Letting go of the past and focusing on what’s ahead, a path of healing.

Don’t allow your emotional baggage to define who you are and what you can achieve. In doing so, you end up believing lies that keep you from moving forward.

Healing doesn’t come easy. It takes time, effort, and courage to face the weight that has been holding you back, but it is worth it.

Take control of your thoughts and emotions, reflect on the positive in each situation and the lessons learned, and make a list of the changes you would like to make and if your baggage is too deep or too heavy, then consider seeking help to assist you in navigating this difficult area of your life.

As you make your New Year’s resolution list, make plans to travel light through 2022.

“Sometimes the past should be abandoned, yes. Life is a journey and you can’t carry everything with you. Only the usable baggage.” ~Ha Jin
