Life is full of milestones. These milestones become the turning points that shift the course of our lives. Some are more impactful than others and each causes an action, marking a significant change within us. There are obvious milestones that we can see and count on, while others sneak up on us, and catch us by surprise.
My life is overwhelmed by milestones, from marrying my best friend, to having my two beautiful daughters, to getting my education, and of course, starting my own business, and so many more, you would be reading for hours if I listed each and every one of them. However, one of the most important and most impactful milestones in my life happened on this day, twenty two years ago. Today marks my anniversary of coming to America. This is where my family and I were rescued from Saddam’s regime and his attempt to execute us. We were brought to safety, rescued from our oppression and delivered to freedom. This milestone made all other milestones possible for me.
Oh how my life would be different if this day didn’t transpire. It’s a surreal feeling to think that if this one milestone didn’t take place and Saddam would have achieved his evil plan, then I might no longer be in existence. It’s a painful thought to have but then I look around, and soak in my reality and the blessings that continue to pour in. I remember that I was provided with an opportunity most would dream of and the word “grateful” doesn’t even begin to express my true feelings. This milestone makes me appreciate everything I have and everything I have been able to achieve and I am beyond words blessed.
Don’t take your milestones for granted no matter how big or small. Appreciate each and every one of them because they all add value and bless your life.

What a Miracle working God we serve. So grateful for what the Lord has done in your lives.
