Personal Growth

Change

If there is one thing that’s constant in our lives, it is change. Change is inevitable. It will happen whether we like it or not. Sometimes we control the change and other times change controls us. Most of us prefer not to experience it because it forces us to think differently, it pushes us outside our comfort zone, and it even invites fear into the mix.

It takes courage, perseverance, and a shift in mindset to be able to face change. It can pour out anxiety upon us or it can fill us with excitement. Either way, it encourages us to shift, to evolve, and to embrace personal growth. It can even be a blessing when faced with the right attitude. However, sometimes, we seek change for the wrong reasons. We assume it can bring on a new opportunity, and it could. But if we don’t change who we are, how we live, how we love, and if we don’t address the root cause of some of our issues, change will only lead to more anxiety and regrets than happiness and prosperity. Leaving the old behind will not improve your lifestyle if you continue to practice old habits in the new.

America is divided at the moment and on the cusp of a possible change, a major shift. If the change takes place, it doesn’t mean COVID will magically disappear, or diversity will flourish, or racism will end. No president will be able to fix or heal those wounds. It takes each and every one of us to adjust our habits to encourage change and create a better tomorrow for ourselves and generations to come. It takes seeing others through love instead of skin color to be able to experience the change we are yearning for.

Today, as you await the much-anticipated election, what habits do you need to change to create a better tomorrow?
