Every Day Thanks

Being grateful and positive seems to be commonplace for many, yet, somehow, it takes a backseat to the day-to-day life stressors.  That is because we don’t train ourselves to make it a habit to be thankful every day.  We tend to be positive based on our mood and our situation at that moment.  Being thankful is not part of our daily existence, it is something we have to work on and some days it is much more challenging than others.

It’s encouraging to see the “grateful” challenges I see on social media especially Facebook during the month of November.  Individuals posting pictures and messages for things they are thankful for.  All these posts make November a beautiful one.  But what about the other eleven months? Where is gratitude in those?

Gratitude creates a spirit of joy, grace, mercy, love, and even forgiveness.

I have so much to be thankful for!  The English dictionary doesn’t have enough words to articulate my gratitude for my family, my parents and everything they have been through, my amazing sisters and how much they have sacrificed to walk alongside me on this journey, to my beautiful daughters who brighten even my toughest and darkest days, and my husband and life partner, who can turn any negative and bitter moment in my life into a sweet sound of victory.

I am grateful for everyone who has poured into my life, from extended family members to friends who are closer than family.  I can’t imagine my life journey without you.  I am grateful for my past because it shaped who I am today.  I’m also grateful for today because it is shaping my future.  But most importantly, I am grateful for my faith and my salvation.  Without my faith and Christ, my life would absolutely be empty.

Being grateful should be a daily experience instead of it being stowed for the month of November.

Who and what are you grateful for today and every day?
