Elf Or Grinch?

It is officially December (scary thought, really) with lights and decorations twinkling everywhere, while Christmas music is playing.  We have survived Black Friday and Cyber Monday, making our way through our shopping lists that seem to never end.

Embarking upon December could make you one of the following:

  • You could be happy and jolly like Buddy in the Elf movie.  Soaking up the season and everything that comes with it.  Enjoying the sweet jingle bells and various tunes that only play for one of the twelve months of the year.  Naughty or nice, you get to play Santa in blessing your family and friends with gifts.  And don’t forget the delicious savory food and desserts, oh the desserts!
  • Or, you could be grumpy and moody like the Grinch.  Despising everything this month brings, dreading the stores for the traffic, the music, and the decorations.  Focusing on the stressful part of this season instead of the true meaning behind it.

The season is almost the same every year, it’s our attitude towards it that impacts our experience in two completely different ways.  Your attitude towards the beginning determines the rest.  By focusing on the annoying part of December then you’re focusing on yourself and your feelings only.  Remember, those around you can pick up on your negative energy more than you would like them to.  On the contrary, you can be festive, focusing on the joyful aspect and impacting not only yourself but those around you in a cheerful way that is contagious.  Your attitude today makes a difference.  So which is it, Elf or Grinch?

”Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
