Have you ever heard the saying “abs are made in the kitchen?”
January is the month of resolutions, month of new beginnings, new opportunities, and a new page with endless possibilities. Most of us approach the New Year with the best intentions and motivation of setting goals and making changes. However, most of these goals are either unachievable or get abandoned before January comes to an end. Why?
According to YouGov, only 7% of US adults stick to their resolutions, and 19% are able to follow through with some but not all of their resolutions. Although our intentions may be right, but if our goals are unrealistic or out of reach, then we are setting ourselves up for failure.
Eating healthier, exercising more, and losing weight can be daunting, exhausting, and even frustrating. But, with the right mindset and planning small stepping stones, you can not only achieve all your resolutions, but you can also exceed them. Remember, planning to eat healthier without being specific with a diet plan and recipes means struggles are ahead. Losing weight with a vague exercise plan will lead to vague results. Be intentional and plan the steps. It may be overwhelming in the beginning, but so worth it in the end.
Don’t compare your body, your progress, and your outcome to others. That will only lead to more disappointment. We are all created differently, built differently, and programmed differently.
In order to experience a positive outcome, you need to have a process in place. A process that creates habits, and habits that lead to results. You can’t eat one bowl of salad or attend the gym once and expect an athletic body. Don’t be discouraged and continue to push through, one small step at a time. If your resolutions are too ambitious and overwhelming, then break them down into smaller steps, and focus on one step at a time.
Our bodies are our temples and should be treated as such. Resolutions are amazing if they are manageable and easy to achieve. It takes more than just a kitchen to build your abs.
