Although helping others can make us feel good, in reality, it’s not about us, it is about them. When you’re there for someone, lending a hand, you are telling them “I see you, I hear you, and I feel for you.”
We are living in a world that is in great pain, confusion, and distress; a heartbreaking reminder that everyone is facing their battles. But no matter our situation, we can always help others even when it’s hard to do so, or we simply don’t want to because we’ve been burned too many times.
People will disappoint you, they will break their promises, and they will even hurt you sometimes, but what they can’t do is take away your kindness. One of the most amazing, encouraging, and beautiful things I see is when people who have known defeat, known suffering , known loss, and still want to help others…still want to show kindness.
So when you come across someone who needs help, do it, even if it’s the last drop you’ve got. It’s how you will leave your mark on others and hope that they can do the same when presented with the opportunity.
