Being loved for who we are is an overwhelming feeling. Love designed and poured out uniquely for us, tailored exactly for you and me despite our past and where we came from. A love that is never changing!
The Gospel of Matthew 18:12-13 says “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered? And if he should find it, truly, I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than the ninety-nine that did not wander off.”
I’ve read this parable so many times yet I never thought about it as a love parable until recently as I was meditating deeper on this. No matter our circumstances, our decisions, and our actions, God, with his love, grace, and mercy, comes after us, looking for us in hopes of bringing us back. And when we chose to come back, we are not condemned or judged but celebrated for our return with overflowing joy.
In this parable I see the character of God’s love like the shepherd who gives his lost sheep:
- Individual love
- Patient love
- Seeking love
- Protecting love
Such a comforting and secure love that is deep and endless! I pray that you have experienced this type of love, and if you haven’t, it’s not too late to start NOW, God is waiting for you and he can’t wait to show you how much He loves you!
