My Leap Of Faith

Two months ago, I told you about the changes my family and I were embarking upon. As we packed our car and drove to Idaho, a state we knew very little about and only visited a few times. My family faced one of the most drastic changes yet as we drove into the unknown with excitement, fear, and a little bit of anxiety. Saying goodbye to our loved ones was just as challenging. We didn’t have a house or an apartment, and we had no plan. All we had was the certainty that this was a step my family needed to take.

Since, we have experienced so much joy and so many blessings. We were able to stay with friends until we found a house, which eased the separation pain and gave us company instead of loneliness. In a very competitive market, we purchased our house in less than 25 days (most take 45+ days to finalize.) Our blessings didn’t stop there. Every aspect of the house purchase process was smooth. The financial obstacles were quickly resolved. And on moving day, we had strangers lined up outside helping us move as they saw a moving truck pull into our driveway. Within minutes, our friends multiplied.

Change is hard, scary, and crippling. But staying status quo can be scarier and more crippling. When we follow our calling, our purpose, and pay attention to that gut feeling (for my family, it’s the Holy Spirit), there is peace. Overwhelming peace that surpasses our understanding. How often do you find yourself looking at change, knowing full well that it is a step you need to take, yet you talk yourself out of it because of fear?

In the last two months, I have experienced more peace and calmness than I ever thought possible. I am watching walls come crashing down and doors opening wide. All because I agreed to follow the purpose designed for me. All because I agreed to take a much-needed leap of faith. The best part, my daughters are watching all of this come together, and they are experiencing the emotions with my husband and me. This has encouraged so much growth and maturity in both of them.

What leap of faith do you need to take? There’s never the right time, so don’t wait for it. There is only now. Are you living your purpose?
